St Jean celebration, 2023

What is la Saint Jean?

Celebrated every year on June 24, Quebec's Fête nationale (also known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day) has been a statutory holiday in Quebec since 1925. In North America, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day has been celebrated since the early days of New France. The first Saint-Jean-Baptiste parade took place in Montreal in 1843. Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is also celebrated in French-speaking communities across Canada.
