The values upheld by the AFN reflect the know how that the organization wishes to project and relate to its organizational culture. These values are honesty, respect, openness, pride in being Francophone, helpfulness, and generosity.
Principles represent the organization’s know how and preferred approaches to operating procedures. The principles are co operation, partnership, democracy, and organizational ability.
An organization’s vision defines the world in which it wishes to operate. Its purpose is to inspire and encourage loyalty among its members. A vision is what guides the work and reflects the association’s values and principles. [As per the AFN’s Strategic Plan 2009-2014], in 2014, the Francophone and Francophile community of the greater Nanaimo region, comprising children, youth, adults, and seniors, is united and evolves, with joy and cheer, into a society where French is more visible and has access to a range of activities provided by a stable team of directors, permanent employees, and employees in adequate office space that meets its needs.
